Trevor Bauer leads league in strikeouts after following no-hitter with 10-strikeout performance for Ducks

Bauer Leads Atlantic League Strikeouts with 10-K Game

Trevor Bauer struck out 10 batters in six innings to lead the Long Island Ducks to a 6-1 victory over the Lexington Legends on May 2. The former MLB Cy Young Award winner allowed six hits and one run on 101 pitches while walking one, in front of a sellout crowd at Fairfield Properties Ballpark. The performance gives Bauer the Atlantic League lead in strikeouts after three starts.

Bauer's outing followed a no-hitter in his prior start against the Lancaster Stormers in a scheduled seven-inning game during a doubleheader. He faced one batter over the minimum across 84 pitches, striking out seven and walking one. The no-hitter marked the third in Ducks history and Bauer's second start in the United States since 2021.

Bauer's agent, Rachel Luba, noted on social media that his fastball reached 98 mph. After the game, Bauer signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans, as he has after each start this season. His first appearance came on April 21.

Bauer pitched in Japan in 2023 and 2025, posting a 2.59 ERA and 9.2 strikeouts per nine innings in 2023 before a 4.41 ERA and 8.2 strikeouts per nine in the later stint. He recorded a 2.48 ERA and 13.0 strikeouts per nine innings in Mexico in 2024. An American League scout attended his debut and described him as a potential MLB contributor.

Bauer last appeared in an MLB game on June 28, 2021, with the Dodgers, allowing two runs over six innings while striking out eight for a win. Sexual assault allegations two days later led to a 324-game suspension, reduced to 184 games for violating MLB's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. Bauer has denied the allegations, settling one case without payment in 2023; the accuser faced a court order to pay him over $300,000 for settlement violations.
