Florida State kicker Conor McAneney arrested on felony charges in Fort Lauderdale

Conor McAneney, kicker for the Florida State Seminoles football team, was arrested on March 12, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, following an altercation with law enforcement officers.[1][2]

The 21-year-old player from Dundalk, Ireland, faces two third-degree felony charges—battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence—and one misdemeanor charge of trespassing in the second degree, according to Broward County Sheriff's Office records.[1][3] Bond was set at $2,000 for the battery charge, $500 for resisting with violence, and $250 for trespassing.[1][3] McAneney was released after posting bond.[2]

His booking photo shows a cut lip and a scratch under his right eye.[1][2]

Florida State head coach Mike Norvell suspended McAneney indefinitely from all team activities, according to a report by 247Sports.[2][4] The suspension was announced on March 13, 2025.

The incident occurred during Florida State's spring break, with spring practices paused at the time.[4] Practices are scheduled to resume on March 20, 2025.[4]

McAneney transferred to Florida State from Quincy University, a Division II program in Illinois, ahead of the 2024 season.[5] In 2024, his only season with the Seminoles to date, he converted 7 of 10 field-goal attempts, with a longest make of 45 yards, and all 43 extra-point tries.[5][6]
